Works Using InDesign

The first work is an advertisment that was made as if for the Sawdust festival. For this advertisement, I wanted to keep it simple, but at the same time make it look interesting. I also thought that it was important to keep all the information (date, time, location, etc.) available, because it is important part for any event poster or advertisement. I found a logo for the sawdust festival online, opened it in Photoshop. I resized it and placed it onto my InDesign document. I placed the information for the event into the document, and then proceeded to find a font and font color that would suit the event and match the logo. I bulleted certain points of the information in order to make the body of text easier to read, and to highlight events at the Sawdust festival. I used the eye dropper tool to match the colors. I aligned everything and saved my document.

The second work was made as if for the Hollywood Sandwich Shoppe menu. I wanted to present a clean, easy to read menu that followed the specifications of the client. They seemed to want a simple black and white menu, but any styles that are in place can be changed to any color scheme if the need presents itself. I changed some of the paragraph styles and added a rule below the headings. The front page is simple but keeps with the classic Holly wood ideas.

The third work was made as if for a calendar that would be used to raise money for an animal shelter. For the Calendar I included pictures of pets and their owners, I added the month, a fun fact about animals, and I made sure there was space at the bottom to add coupons. In order to design the calendar I opened up Microsoft excel and created a table. With the help of the program’s auto finish I was able to save time and design the basic layout for the calendar. I saved the table, exited the program and opened InDesign. I was able to place the table into my InDesign document and adjust it to fill up the page. I added color and changed the weight of the lines of the calendar. I had to adjust cell size for the days of the week. I created a box, chose a pattern for the border, adjusted the size, and copied it two more times into the document.
